So I bought a Dell Mini 9" for $404. I have to say I have enjoyed the experience. With a 1.6 Ghz processor it can handle the basics. I upgraded the ram to 1 gig and it has proven to be quite the efficient machine with the internet and other applications. I also like the 1.3 megapixel camera that came built in. that was also an upgrade. I opted for the 16 gig drive and ended up getting a 32 gig ssd so that was a nice mistake. Originally I had ordered the same setup with a 4 gig drive, but I decided that was not enough. It came out of the box with an easy to setup Ubuntu OS. I went to
gnome-look.org and customized the gui pretty easily. I was also able to get compiz effects working too. It is not very efficient but it is good to have so you can show how powerful this little machine is. I also installed the
Avant Window Navigater so I could have a Mac style docking application.

All in all it has been a decent machine. The keyboard is a little small, but it does have a vga out and some USB ports so you can set up an on the go desktop. I thought about putting windows on here and then decided that it would use to many resources and bog down my system if I had a lot to do. Besides, the Dell Mini comes with
Openoffice.org and
Adobe Reader pre-installed. SO no worries about document editing or reading PDF's.
